Everton have opened talks to sign Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz, with the Italian club open to selling him in the summer transfer window, according to a report from TEAMtalk.
It's set to be a busy window for the Toffees with David Moyes' squad paper-thin as it stands. Everton have confirmed two additions so far, with Thierno Barry the latest to arrive from Villarreal. Carlos Alcaraz has also joined the club, but the Argentinian midfielder was with Moyes' side during the second half of the 2024/2025 season on loan.
Further reinforcements will be necessary, with Everton losing the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Ashley Young, and Abdoulaye Doucoure, as well as four of their loan players from last term. Adding a new midfielder could be one of Everton's priorities in the summer transfer window after losing Doucoure, with Orel Mangala also departing at the end of his loan spell.

Luiz is open to returning to England after an underwhelming spell in Italy, and the Toffees are now hoping to convince him to join the club. The Brazilian international has plenty of Premier League experience under his belt after plying his trade for Aston Villa, and a return to England could be on the cards this summer.
The 27-year-old, described as 'world-class' by John McGinn, could offer Everton something a little different in the middle of the park. The former Villa man is more comfortable in possession than any of Moyes' current midfielders, and his spell in England showed he has what it takes to play in the Premier League.
