Report: Nottingham Forest want Club World Cup player with 12 goal contributions last season

Nottingham Forest are going to be stepping up their pre-season preparations in the coming weeks, with things to do before the 2025/26 campaign gets underway.

Anthony Elanga has jumped ship and signed a five-year contract with Newcastle and that leaves Forest very short when it comes to the attacking areas of the pitch.

Furthermore, Morgan Gibbs-White is wanted by Tottenham and sadly, it appears as though he will follow Elanga by walking out on the City Ground this summer.

Igor Jesus has come to the City Ground in a £10 million deal this summer and he’s also been joined by his teammate from Botafogo, Jair Cunha.

Nottingham Forest want Samuel Lino

According to La Casa Dello Sport, Forest are the Premier League club to have shown serious interest in the Brazilian winger currently playing for Atletico Madrid.

Lino, 25, signed for Atletico from Valencia and has scored 12 goals and claimed 16 assists from his 93 appearances for Los Rojiblancos.

The Brazilian typically operates as a left-winger, but he’s also showcased at Metropolitano that he is more than capable of operating as a wing-back if called upon.

It’s not clear at this stage how much Lino will cost this summer, although it’s been claimed that he could now leave the La Liga outfit.

Lino would be ideal for Forest

Given that Lino can operate anywhere down the left-hand side, it perhaps makes sense that Forest would look at a player of this nature.

Forest might need to adapt next season and play in a different style that deploys three central midfielders rather than the 4-2-3-1 that was so often on display in 2024/25.

Lino’s flexibility would give Forest that option and it’s not a surprise that this particular player has been linked with a move to the club.

Naturally, Lino would have to prove himself in the Premier League but in the grand scheme of things, this is a deal that could suit Forest if the price is right.
