Though not one of the franchise’s top prospects, the 20-year-old has gained valuable experience and is expected to step up his game during crucial moments on the court.

Assistant coach Lindsey Harding highlighted the team’s desire to see Bronny be more assertive with his decision-making, especially when the pressure is on.

Yeah, we want him to play on the ball,” Harding said, via the LA Times. “Especially in tight moments, I like the ball in his hands, and I want him to make those decisions. You can go through as many drills as you want, but nothing beats live.”

Despite sharing ball time with other playmakers like Dalton Knecht, RJ Davis, and DJ Steward, Bronny is typically trusted with the ball late in games.

In the Lakers’ first Summer League outing against the Dallas Mavericks, a play was designed specifically for him on the final possession, giving him a chance to hit a potential game-winning three-pointer in a narrow two-point loss.

So far in the Summer League, James has appeared in four games, two at the California Classic and two in Las Vegas, averaging 8.5 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game.
