West Ham would benefit from selling their unwanted players this summer, and there is interest in Nayef Aguerd.
Aguerd spent last season on loan at Real Sociedad and gave a good account of himself in Spain, but is not expected to stay in East London.
West Ham are aiming to sign a new defender, but Aguerd is not being considered as an option for next season after he disappointed in his time there.
An offer has now arrived for Aguerd, but this has been rejected, with West Ham’s stance over his exit now clear.

Gianluca Di Marzio (13 July) has reported that Roma made contact with West Ham over a loan deal for the defender, but this was immediately rejected.

David Sullivan is not considering another loan for the 29-year-old and will only look to sell him on a permanent deal this summer.
Aguerd joined West Ham for £30 million in 2022 from Stade Rennais, but failed to impress in 58 games, and the Hammers will likely make a significant loss on him.

West Ham cannot afford more expensive flops
West Ham found themselves in a more difficult financial situation this summer as a result of years of poor spending, and the signing of Aguerd is a prime example of ones they should avoid.
Aguerd arrived for a huge fee but did not make an impact, and has very little resale value. Making more losses on older players such as the Moroccan, and departed players such as Danny Ings, will only harm the club in the long run.
West Ham now need to be more careful with their spending, and any big-money deals they conduct will have to have a long-term plan in mind.
More failed signings will only set the club back further, and West Ham will hope that they can get a respectable fee back for Aguerd this summer.
