Leeds United are looking to bolster multiple positions as Torino goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic has emerged as a transfer target.

With Jaka Bijol’s arrival from Udinese this summer and former LOSC Lille left-back Gabriel Gundmundsson’s signing, the Whites have arguably addressed their defensive issues.

The focus should now turn to strengthening other areas of the pitch, with Milinkovic-Savic seen as a replacement for Illan Meslier.

Here’s a round-up of transfer developments involving the West Yorkshire outfit in recent hours as Daniel Farke prepares for pre-season.

The news outlet reports in its print edition (13 July, page 76) that the Bundesliga outfit are now willing to cash in on the defensive midfielder to generate funds.

It’s been claimed that the Whites have held talks with the Germany international, but Eintracht Frankfurt are also in the race for his signature.

It remains to be seen whether the hierarchy at Elland Road are willing to spend a significant sum to acquire the 26-year-old in the coming weeks.

Milinkovic Savic is confident Napoli will make a move for him in the ongoing transfer window, according to Football Italia.

The news outlet reports (12 July) that the Serbia international is prioritising a move to the Serie A champions over a switch to Elland Road.

It’s been claimed that while the West Yorkshire outfit have made contact to sign the 28-year-old shot-stopper, they aren’t seen as favourites for his signature.

Adam Underwood may have to move on to other targets as he looks to give Farke a new number one before the end of August.

Leeds United-linked Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Leeds could potentially be taking a “huge risk” by signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Paul Robinson says.

The ex-Whites goalkeeper believes the Whites will be taking a massive chance on the former Everton striker, considering his recent Premier League record.

Robinson feels it would make sense for the West Yorkshire outfit to get someone like the 28-year-old Englishman on a pay-as-you-play contract as a backup centre-forward for next season.

Speaking to MOT Leeds News, he said: “The age of Wilson, the age of Calvert-Lewin, you’re taking a risk on somebody who’s not going to score the amount of goals that you’re going to need to stay in the Premier League.

“Calvert-Lewin, you’re going to have to take a big risk on the wages, and you’re getting a player that in the last three seasons hasn’t done it regularly. If you got Wilson or Calvert-Lewin on a pay-as-you-play deal, and you had another who was going to play regularly, then you’d take that opportunity.

“But I think for them, they have to go somewhere, whether it be a pay-as-you-play deal or not, and prove that they can play week in and week out.”
