The Millwall search for goalkeeping reinforcements features in your Sunday Championship round-up.

Charlton Athletic links with a transfer move for Blackpool midfielder Rob Apter have been strengthened this weekend thanks to a candid admission from Tangerines manager Steve Bruce.

The Addicks have already been busy in the transfer window as they look to strengthen ahead of a Championship return. Charlton Athletic manager Nathan Jones has said that supporters should expect more to come and that could include Apter.

The winger, who would add an option out wide on the right following the departure of Thierry Small as a free agent, has been at Blackpool since 15 years old. Now 22, the player enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at Bloomfield Road last time out, playing 45 league matches and scoring eight goals.

Blackpool confirm Charlton Athletic transfer interest

Charlton Athletic were credited with interest last week and now, speaking to the Blackpool Gazette, Bruce said: “We’ve had conversations with Charlton, but where it’s at, I really don’t know - that’s for others to talk about. We don’t want to sell Rob, but we all know in football that everyone has their price. Whether there are any more developments, I’m not too sure.

“He’s a dying breed. He’s one of those that can go past people and make something happen. None of us want him to go, but it’s football. It’s obviously a difficult situation, for Rob he could get to the Championship. As a manager, you don’t want these lads to go, but everyone’s got their price, and if it gets to a level where we think it’s good money for us, then we’ll have a look at it and see where it takes us. We’re always planning. You never want to sell your best players, but when the bigger boys come with a financial package, then it becomes a difficult situation.”

Millwall eye Manchester United goalkeeper

Meanwhile, Millwall remain in the market for another goalkeeper. Liam Roberts left the club this summer for Mansfield Town and first choice Lukas Jensen will be out for a chunk of the early campaign with an injury.

Transfer specialist Alan Nixon has now reported that the Lions are targeting Manchester United shot-stopper Radek Vitek. The 21-year-old made 26 league appearances on loan at Blau-Weiss Linz in Austria last season.

Vitek joined the Red Devils in 2020 and has been involved in youth teams but never played for the first team. In January 2024, he was loaned to Accrington Stanley for a short stay.

Millwall have already signed New Zealand international Max Crocombe from Burton Albion and agreed a contract extension with George Evans this summer.
