This Manchester United target is eager to join the Old Trafford ranks this season.

Manchester United are edging closer to completing a deal for long-standing target Bryan Mbeumo. The Cameroon international has had a number of clubs queuing up for his signature thanks to an impressive season with Brentford.

After netting 20 goals in all competitions, Mbeumo has been on United’s radar for a while now and they are pushing to get a deal over the line amid this summer restructure.

With Matheus Cunha already over the line, Ruben Amorim is eager to continue adding extra firepower to his attacking, following a difficult season in front of goal across the board.

The Red Devils have been in talks with Brentford for a while now but a deal looks to finally be on the horizon.

Fabrizio Romano provides update on Bryan Mbeumo to Man United

According to a fresh update from Fabrizio Romano, United are closing in on a deal for Mbeumo and remain ‘confident’ they will be given the go-ahead from Brentford in the coming days.

“The main focus for Manchester United remains Bryan Mbeumo. The contacts are still ongoing between Manchester United, Brentford and people involved in the deal. Mbeumo still wants to go to United and the club maintain their confidence and their optimism to get the green light and sign Bryan Mbeumo in the next days,” he said in his latest YouTube video.

“Still no breakthrough in this story but Manchester United keep working, keep negotiating, keep advancing to find the right structure for the deal. They are working on easy and difficult add-ons trying to make Brentford happy with their final proposal. Man United are on it and the Mbeumo deal is absolutely alive as of this weekend.”

Romano followed up with a post on social media, confirming that United are still in conversation with Brentford over the Mbeumo deal and the player is not looking to move anywhere other than Old Trafford this summer.

“Manchester United remain in active talks for Bryan Mbeumo also this weekend, hopeful to get green light by the end of next week. The player maintains his word; he wants to join MUFC, not entertaining talks with other clubs.

Man United urged to keep transfer ball rolling

Stan Collymore has urged United to keep the momentum ticking after things have gone slightly quiet on their transfer front. Amorim’s side are expected to oversee a raft of changes this window following a dismal Premier League season but they have fallen behind some of their closest rivals so far.

“By this time next week, they may get it all right, get rid of four or five players and bring two or three in. But at the moment, I think that the early optimism of Man United fans saying that it was still one of the clubs to go to is starting to decline,” Collymore told CaughtOffside.

“Yes, guys like Cunha and Mbeumo have said that they only want to go to Man United. But while there are agents sniffing around and touting someone like Mbeumo to another club because talks are running on for so long.

“So Manchester United need to be very careful and start to get some of these deals over the line, both incoming and outgoing. Otherwise, I can see it being a very, very tricky summer transfer window for them. And as a consequence, a potentially big question mark as to how the season will pan out for them.”
