After narrowly missing out on the Premier League title again in 2024/25, it appears that Arsenal and Mikel Arteta are finally responding to long-standing calls from fans to be more decisive in the transfer market.

The Gunners have already made significant moves. Christian Nørgaard has joined to add leadership and experience in midfield, while Noni Madueke is expected to arrive from Chelsea, bringing pace, flair, and additional depth to the wide areas.

Most notably, Viktor Gyökeres looks to be on the verge of signing. The prolific Sporting CP striker is reportedly close to completing a move, and could be the lethal No.9 Arsenal have desperately needed for years — a potential final piece in their title-challenging puzzle.

But while reinforcements are arriving, there will naturally be outgoings too. And one of those departures could include a fan favourite.

According to new reports from Germany, relayed by the Mirror, Leandro Trossard has emerged as a transfer target for Bayern Munich, who are keen to strengthen their forward line this summer.

Trossard is being considered as a possible alternative to Liverpool’s Luis Díaz, with Bild reporting that Bayern have submitted a £45 million bid for the Colombian winger. However, Liverpool are reluctant to sell, especially at that price — prompting Bayern to assess other options.

That’s where Trossard comes in. Talks over a new deal at Arsenal have reportedly stalled, and the Belgian recently appointed Dirk Hebel as his new agent — a figure who already has strong ties with Bayern sporting director Max Eberl.

Trossard joined Arsenal from Brighton in January 2023 and quickly made a strong impression with his tight control, intelligent movement, and creativity in the final third. He became a popular figure among fans for his tireless work rate and moments of magic off the bench. Former Premier League striker Craig Bellamy once called him “incredible.”

Despite his talent, Trossard never fully cemented a regular starting role under Arteta, often used as an impact substitute or squad rotation player. With Arsenal’s attacking options evolving — especially if Gyökeres arrives — the 29-year-old is now believed to be open to a new challenge abroad.

While his status at Bayern Munich would likely be similar — as part of a deep attacking rotation — the allure of the Bundesliga giants and a fresh start could prove tempting.

Should Arsenal agree to a sale, it would mark the end of an underrated but valuable spell in North London — and potentially a smart pick-up for Bayern.
