After 2 games, Mavericks shut down Cooper Flagg for rest of summer (report)

After just two games, the Dallas Mavericks will be without Cooper Flagg for the remainder of Summer League.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Mavs shut down the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. The decision came after Flagg dropped 31 points against the San Antonio Spurs.

Flagg struggled in his first Summer League game with just 10 points, but rebounded in his second appearance.

The Duke product was seen flexing his wrist after he fell late in Saturday’s game, but it’s unclear if it’s related to Dallas shutting him down.

Flagg averaged 19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists in his one season with the Duke Blue Devils. Flagg also shot 39% from 3-point range.

While he only played one season, his numbers were enough to earn the the Naismith National Player of the Year.

Flagg helped Duke to a 35-4 record and became the first Duke player to score 30 points, have at least five rebounds and as many assists in an NCAA tournament game — which came in a Sweet 16 win over Arizona.

Now in the NBA, Flagg joins a Mavericks team looking to reestablish itself after trading Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in February.
