Arsenal’s pursuit of Sporting CP’s prolific striker Viktor Gyokeres has reached a critical juncture, with significant developments reported on July 13, 2025.

Sporting’s president, Frederico Varandas, confirmed Viktor Gyokeres faces disciplinary action after failing to report for pre-season training on Saturday, July 12, risking fines and an apology to his teammates.
Viktor Gyokeres, believing Sporting reneged on a €70 million (£60m) transfer agreement, has taken a firm stance, reportedly stating he will not play for the club again.
Arsenal’s latest offer of €65m plus €15m in add-ons was rejected, with Sporting holding firm for a €70m guaranteed fee. Despite the impasse, sources indicate both clubs are close to a compromise, with Arsenal’s sporting director Andrea Berta actively engaged in Lisbon.
