Marcus Rashford has reportedly turned down a significant offer amid the speculation over his future.
Manchester United have a lengthy list of players expected to leave the club this summer after opening the door to offers to facilitate a restructure.
Reports towards the end of the 2024/25 season claimed that the board had listed every single senior player up for sale following their lacklustre end to the Premier League campaign. The Red Devils recorded their lowest ever points tally with just 42 on the board, finishing the season way down in 14th in the table.
Their dismal count put them level with former relegation candidates Wolves, finishing above them only by a slim goal difference margin. With just 44 goals to their name, United also returned one of the lowest goal tallies of the season. Only the three relegated clubs and Everton found the back of the new fewer times than Ruben Amorim’s side.
Man United open the door to raft of departures
It’s been relatively quiet on the outgoing front so far but United are expected to offload a bulk of their first team, based on recent reports. Marcus Rashford is one player who is looking for a new club, with his future lying firmly away from Old Trafford.
The forward is expected to join the likes of Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho on permanent moves to new clubs this summer. Amorim and co are very much focused on revamping United’s attack, with Matheus Cunha already through the door and the club pushing hard to finalise a deal for Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford as well.
According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Rashford is being chased by ‘several important clubs’ but a leading name in the frame right now is Barcelona.
The Catalan club are also hot in pursuit of Liverpool’s Luis Diaz but the Premier League champions are standing firm that their winger is not for sale this summer. This could lead them to pushing for a move for Rashford but they aren’t alone in their interest.
Marcus Rashford ‘passes’ on Saudi Arabia offer
The report from Spain claims that while Barcelona are keen on Rashford, clubs in Saudi Arabia also have him on their shortlist. One Pro League side has ‘made a very important offer’ for the England star but he has ‘passed’ on the approach.
Rashford is reportedly ‘waiting for Barca’ as he believes he is ‘well-positioned’ to fit into the team. It would also be a dream of his the join the ranks at Blaugrana and is even willing to lower his salary expectations if they do submit an official bid for him this summer.
Rashford could also potentially leave this summer on loan, with an option to buy clause added in, valued between €30-40 million (£26-35m). The 27-year-old is ‘eager to resolve his future as soon as possible’ and is keen to make a move to Barcelona soon, in order to spent ‘a good part’ of pre-season with the team ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
