Manchester United are expected to sanction an exit for Alejandro Garnacho this summer.
The Blues are set to see Noni Madueke leave for London rivals Arsenal this week. A £52 million deal has been agreed between the two clubs.
That will open up a space for more recruitment at Stamford Bridge as Enzo Maresca oversees another summer of spending. Joao Pedro and Liam Delap have arrived from Brighton and Ipswich Town already to strengthen attacking options.
Manchester United star determined to stay in Premier League
Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for Garnacho in recent months but faced competition from Italian giants Napoli and Saudi outfit Al Nassr. However, in an update on the player, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano said: “Alejandro Garnacho’s plan remains clear, he wants to continue in Premier League this summer. His chapter at Manchester United is closed but he wants to stay in Premier League.”
That would make Chelsea frontrunners ahead of European sides. The Sun claims that the Blues could look to send Christopher Nkunku to Old Trafford as part of a swap deal to bring Garnacho to London.
Manchester United have already granted Garnacho an extended period of holiday after he confirmed his decision to leave the club. The winger did not reunite with teammates at the return to training.
Red Devils to green light Garnacho exit
Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia are also included alongside Garnacho in a group that were not at Ruben Amorim’s first training session, having also expressed their desire to leave Manchester United. Those players have been given a later date to return in a bid to help them sort moves.
ManchesterWorld writes: “United sources insist they respect and understand the decision of the players and have delayed their required return date until later in July to allow them time to explore possible transfers. The club insists their medical and rehabilitation facilities will remain available to the players should any wish to come in and use them, and remote support will continue as always. If their players are not resolved during the extended break, they will all be welcomed back to Carrington ahead of the new season.
“Manchester United have confirmed they will not stand in the way of the players who wish to leave the club in the summer transfer window and will allow them an extended break to facilitate potential transfer exits.”
Manchester United had initially wanted £70 million for Garnacho but TNT Sports now claims that asking price could be lowered to as little as £40 million.
