The pre-season friendly was held in aid of the 30-year-old after he suffered life changing injuries after he was hit by a car when stood on the hard shoulder of the M27.
The Cherries showed their class as they ran out 6-1 victors – but the night was about more than just the football.
Speaking to the Daily Echo after the game, former youth player at Bournemouth Chiedozie expressed his thanks for the support he had received.
_(Image: Newsquest)_ “The important thing is the support, everyone coming out and just having a good night, you know?” he said.
“So, yes, it was just really nice to be a part of and obviously to be the main man of the night. I appreciate it massively.”
Chiedozie was applauded onto the pitch before the game, receiving a guard of honour from both clubs and presented with signed Cherries and Cambridge United shirts, two of his former clubs.
“It was emotional because of the goal I set myself to walk back into Bashley and to walk through a guard of honour, yeah, it was quite emotional,” he said.
“It nearly got me, but, it took me off guard a little bit.”
On the whole occasion, Chiedozie said: “It was amazing.
_(Image: Newsquest)_ “The turnout was crazy and obviously the game was really good as well. A lot of good players at Bournemouth, it's good to see them and good fitness for Bashley as well. They'll benefit from that.
“Even though the scoreline, they'll definitely benefit. So, yeah, it was really nice. A really good, evening out.”
Chiedozie was impressed with Remy Rees-Dottin, who scored twice, Daniel Adu-Adjei, who opened the scoring, and Zain Silcott-Duberry, who was pivotal in the Cherries attack in the first half.
The visitors opened up a 5-0 lead at the break, Finn Tonks and Malachai Ogunleye also scoring, but Bashley fought back in the second half, Lewis Ross scoring from the penalty spot, before a Cherries trialist completed the scoring in a 6-1 win.
_(Image: Newsquest)_ Bashley boss Jack Williamson said it was a special occasion for the club.
“It was amazing, like one of those moments that give you chills,” he said.
“When we did the guard of honour at the start and then the crowd all giving a round of applause and Jordan coming out in.
“Just amazing to see him, like he's inspiring.
“That's what I spoke to the lads before. Obviously it was an occasion today. Yes, it's pre-season and we want to get something out of it as the Bournemouth young lads do, but it was for him and to see so many people turn up for him is just, like I said before, it just reiterates how amazing the football community is.
“Absolutely phenomenal.”
_(Image: Newsquest)_ He continued: “We sound like a broken record when we go regarding Bash is a family. But he \[Chiedozie\] just embodies that.
“When he spoke to AFC Bournemouth, they did their interview and he goes, my first goal was to walk out on the pitch here.
“That's amazing, what a privilege. I talk about a lot about privileges. That's a privilege to be able to know him, such an amazing human.
“But to come out and that's what he says, it means that what we're doing on and off the pitch is working, and it means something and it's more than just a bunch of lads, which is lovely. It's really, really nice.”
_(Image: Newsquest)_ Alan Connell, too, reflected on the evening and told the Daily Echo: “Jordan has been through something very difficult and is still going through it.
“But his outlook and positivity when we’ve seen him have been remarkable and we’ve just tried to help and support him along the way.
“This game was something that was discussed a while ago and I’m so pleased to see it come to fruition, most importantly for Jordan.
“It was great to see him on the pitch with a smile on his face and I’m glad we put on a really good game.
“Every time I’ve spoken to him there has been no negativity and, again, tonight he showed that and that is testament to him and his character.
“For us, we don’t want this to just be ‘we played one game and that’s our support for him ended’. We want to continue to support him.
“He will be more than welcome to watch us train or come to our games and I’ve already told him that. And if there’s anything else we can do in the future to support him, I’m sure we will.”
