NFC South king.
Every NFL coach usually has a set of goals he lays out before the season starts.
Obviously the first would be to win the Super Bowl. But a key path to paving the way to a Super Bowl berth would be goal No. 2.
That would be to win your division. So it stands to reason the only NFC team that has been in the playoffs five straight years with four straight division titles has a decent playoff record.
And the Bucs do. From the calculator of noted handicapper turned stathead Warren Sharp, in the last 30 divisional games for the Bucs, Tampa Bay has 20 wins. Only Dallas has as many divisional wins in the NFC.
So the goal for the Bucs is the same: Keep dominating the division and things will fall into place.
Winning some games after meeting your first goal ought to be high on the Bucs’ wish list this year.
