Chicago Bears’ Rome Odunze brings youth football camp to Boylan High School

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - It is not every day you get to meet a professional athlete; let alone learn from them.

Sunday Chicago Bears Wide Receiver Rome Odunze brought his football camp to Boylan High School and more than 400 kids between six and 16 years old were on the field.

The kids rotated between 15 stations with each going through a different football skill, including pass catching, route running and defense. Odunze channeled his inner Caleb Williams and threw passes to kids in a mini scrimmage at one of the stations.

“Sports are really integral in my childhood and growing up so just coming out here letting these young kids have some fun play football learn a little bit about them and inspire them as much as they inspire me,” said Odunze.

Odunze said first year Head Coach Ben Johnston could be a key piece they need to have a good season.

“Ben comes in with an energy and an expectation to have success from the start and that’s what we are working towards. I think we have all the right pieces we just have to put them in the right place, and I think we will have a successful year,” said Odunze.

The clinic is put on through Flexwork; an agency partnering with hundreds of athletes like Rome to host youth sports camps nationwide.
