Manchester United youngster Godwill Kukonki is set to sign his first professional contract.
In March, the Manchester Evening News revealed that United were trying to tie Kukonki down to a professional deal and the exciting young defender will now officially put pen to paper.
Kukonki was named in a first-team squad for the first time against Arsenal on December 4, and Ruben Amorim said the youngster had "impressed" him and his maturity was noticeable.
The highly rated left-footed centre-back was named in United's post-season tour travelling squad in May and he made appearances from the bench against ASEAN All-Stars and Hong Kong.
When Amorim oversaw his first training session at Carrington in November after his appointment from Sporting Lisbon, Kukonki made a strong impression and travelled to Portman Road for Amorim's first game against Ipswich Town.
He was subsequently named on the bench at the Emirates. Kukonki continued to be around the first-team and made the squad for both legs against Lyon in the Europa League quarter-finals.
He has been rewarded with his first professional deal and has been tipped for a bright future.
There have been early comparisons made between the exciting Kukonki and Manchester City defender Josko Gvardiol and he is a unique option because he is a left-footed defender.
Kukonki already stands at a towering 6ft 5ins and his physicality should help him as he pushes toward a debut, which is his ultimate aim after making progress through the youth ranks.
The Stoke-on-Trent-born lad can also play at left-back and has represented England's Under-17s.
