West Ham are set to firm up their interest in Liverpool star Harvey Elliott.

The Hammers have a huge hold in their squad after selling Mohamed Kudus to Tottenham for £55million.

Graham Potter‘s side are in need of attacking reinforcements and the England Under-21 star would fit the bill.

The Anfield ace can play on the right flank, in the number 10 role or in a deeper midfield position, so would be a great capture for the Irons.

West Ham set for Elliott swoop from Liverpool

The East London outfit are set to get their transfer business underway, and are nearing completion on a £19m deal for El Hadji Malick Diouf.

Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg (13 July) claimed that the Hammers are to follow up their deal for Diouf with a swoop for Elliott.

He states that there is optimism at the London Stadium that an agreement can be reached, and they also like Reds midfielder Tyler Morton.

Elliott would be a star at West Ham

The 23-year-old was handed just 360 Premier League minutes by Arne Slot last season, and could look to leave the champions this summer as a result.

He is one of the most promising talents in the British game, and Potter is desperate for a dynamic, creative player to help him change the E20 outfit’s fortunes, so it seems like a perfect match for both parties.

The need for a number 10 could be exacerbated depending on the outcome of Lucas Paqueta’s FA hearing for alleged betting charges, where the Brazilian could be banned for life if he is found guilty.

Elliott only added to his stock with his performances at the Under-21 European Championships, where he notched five goals in six matches and won the Player of the Tournament award.

It would be a real coup if David Sullivan and Co could secure his signature, but they need to act fast to hold off their rivals.

The reported £40m price tag would be a bargain for a player of Elliott’s talent, so the Irons need to accelerate their interest and make sure that they get him.
