Leeds United still need to seal four transfers for Daniel Farke dream window

It's been a bright start to the summer transfer window for Leeds United as Paraag Marathe and 49ers Enterprises stick to their word and give Daniel Farke the backing he needs. Survival is the main aim for the Whites next season after sealing their return to the Premier League.

So far, Leeds have signed Lukas Nmecha, Jaka Bijol, Sebastian Bornauw and Gabriel Gudmundsson ahead of the 2025/26 campaign. The Whites looked to be closing in on the signing of Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff after a third bid of £10million plus £2m in add-ons, but the Magpies rebuffed that approach.

Leeds do have alternative targets in mind but also have other areas of the pitch they need to strengthen. With that in mind, LeedsLive has taken a look at the areas of the pitch we believe still need strengthening ahead of the Premier League curtain raiser.

Goalkeeper

It's no secret that Leeds need to strengthen their goalkeeping department this summer and they've been linked with a number of transfer targets. Illan Meslier continues to be linked with a move away from Elland Road having struggled with consistency once again.

The likes of Aaron Ramsdale, Nick Pope and Vanja Milinković-Savić have been tipped for a move to the Whites, with the latter of the trio said to have held talks with the club over a summer switch.

There are still a number of key positions to sanction, but bedding in a goalkeeper before getting into the thick of pre-season should be a priority. Pope would be the goalkeeper of choice personally, but Newcastle want to keep the England international ahead of their return to the Champions league, even if they do sign James Trafford from Burnley.

Central midfield

The recent pursuit of Longstaff perhaps tells you where Leeds think their next priority is in the market. Of course, clubs tend to operate on a number of deals at one time, but all the signs are pointing towards the addition of a new central midfielder.

Anton Stach is another name to be linked with a move to Elland Road, with reports claiming the Hoffenheim midfielder is on Leeds' shortlist amid a €20million price tag (£17.3m). Bringing in some more legs into the midfield engine room is a must this summer.

Creativity and goals from midfield should also be high on Leeds' summer shopping list. It's no surprise to see the club linked with the likes of Gus Hamer, Emi Buendia and James McAtee who would all be welcome additions to the squad.

The Whites would likely face competition for all three, with McAtee's reported asking price of £25m said tobe attracting attention from the likes of Nottingham Forest as well.

Buendia reuniting with Farke would be an exciting prospect, though it's Hamer who was perhaps the most exciting of the three numbers tens last season. The Blades playmaker can play across the midfield, but is said to be of interest to PSV Eindhoven.

Whoever Leeds choose to target this summer, they need to move quickly to fend off competition.

A striker

Leeds didn't exactly struggle in front of goal last season, but the Premier League is a different beast entirely and the Whites know they need a potent marksman in the top flight.

Farke's side have been linked with a move for Josh Sargent and Nicola Krstovic. The former has scored double figures in his last three Championship campaigns, but managed just four goals in the Canaries' most recent top flight campaign.

Krstovic has a similarly impressive goal scoring record, 19 goals in 74 appearances for Serie A side Lecce. The Whites have been linked with a number of free agents, such as Callum Wilson, but you sense that Leeds will need to spend big as they did on Georginio Rutter.
