Newcastle United have just a few weeks remaining to complete their transfer business for the summer.
Eddie Howe and Co. will be busy preparing for the return of Premier League football, where they will face Aston Villa on the opening day on August 16. Part of those preparations will involve looking to the transfer market for new signings.
Newcastle have already made one new signing this summer with Anthony Elanga arriving from Nottingham Forest in a deal worth up to £55million.
The Magpies are also showing an interest in signing Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford and are continuing to be linked with a move for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike.
Here, Chronicle Live takes a look at some of the latest Newcastle transfer news and gossip that has emerged over the last 24 hours.
Chelsea defender wanted
Newcastle are reportedly in the running to sign Chelsea defender Axel Disasi.
French news outlet L'Equipe have reported that the Magpies are interested in signing Disasi and will face competition from La Liga outfit Villarreal.
Disasi spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa and is reportedly valued by Chelsea at €30million (£26million) this summer.
However, it has been claimed that Chelsea's price tag for Disasi is seeing both Newcastle and Villarreal hesitate over the transfer.
Conor Gallagher interest
Newcastle are reportedly showing an interest in signing Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher.
Caught Offside have reported that the Magpies are among a host of clubs interested in Gallagher, as they are joined by Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa.
Gallagher only joined Atletico last year and it's been claimed that the La Liga outfit value the midfielder at around €50million (£43million).
Newcastle may get the chance to go up against Gallagher in the next few weeks when they face Atletico in a pre-season friendly on August 9.
