After the match, the Blues were celebrating their win on the pitch at the MetLife Stadium but were interrupted as PSG players and staff took issue with their celebrations and tempers flared up.

Gianluigi Donnarumma, the PSG goalkeeper, had to have a tense conversation with a Chelsea player diffused by Enzo Maresca, while Enrique took issue with Joao Pedro and appeared to slap him in the face.

The scorer of Chelsea’s third goal was questioned about this incident after the match.

“It’s normal,” Joao Pedro said. “Everyone wanted to win the game. In the end, I think they lost their heads.

“But this is football. This happens. Now we need to enjoy it, because we won the tournament. That’s it.”
