Ealing Fields High School will represent Great Britain at the NFL Flag Championships in Ohio later this week, after securing their place with a commanding performance in the national finals.
Last month (17 June 2025), their 13U Mixed team triumphed 27–13 over Windlesham House, booking their ticket to the prestigious international tournament, which will run from 17 to 20 July 2025 at the Pro Football Hall of Fame Village in Canton, Ohio — the spiritual home of American football.
Ealing Fields will be the only team representing Great Britain at what is regarded as the world’s premier youth flag football event. The tournament will host eight under-14 international teams, alongside approximately 300 boys’ and girls’ squads from across the United States who advanced through regional NFL Flag competitions.
Flag football — a non-contact version of American football — is played by over 20 million people in more than 100 countries.
Teams from countries including Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, Great Britain, Mexico and Puerto Rico will begin pool play on Thursday and Friday, followed by knockout rounds on Saturday. For the first time, the international division winner will face the US B bracket champion in a final on Sunday.
Stephanie Kwok, vice president, Flag Football at the NFL, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome eight countries — up from six in 2024 — to the international division of the NFL Flag Championships in Canton this summer. Expanding programming to host a multi-country competition, including a matchup with a US team, helps offer aspirational pathways to young athletes across the world as we look ahead to the LA28 Olympic Games. We can’t wait to see the talent on the field.”
