Aston Villa 'make enquiry' for Premier League forward which would seal Unai Emery reunion

Aston Villa have reportedly made an enquiry for Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson, after the forward appeared to fall down Enzo Maresca's striker pecking order at Stamford Bridge. Senegal international Jackson has spent two seasons at and has just helped them to lift the Club World Cup in the US.

Upon his return, though, Jackson - who was the club's top scorer last season in which they qualified for the Champions League and lifted the Europa Conference League title - faces an uncertain future in west London after the club's summer recruitment nudged him out of the starting XI picture.

Indeed both Liam Delap - signed from relegated Ipswich Town - and Joao Pedro - who scored goals in the semi-finals and final of the Club World Cup, shortly after joining from Brighton for more than £50m - would appear to be ahead of Jackson currently, leading to questions around his future at the club.

Jackson, who has made 42 goal contributions in 81 appearances for the Blues since joining from La Liga side Villarreal - where he'd worked previously with boss - in 2023 has interest from elsewhere; Villa , while Manchester United are also keen as they look to add to Ruben Amorim's front-line.

both Villa and United are weighing up moves for Jackson, 24, this summer, while Italian champions Napoli are also keeping tabs. Chelsea aren't in a rush to part with Jackson and Maresca is happy for him to remain at the club and fight for his place, but the player himself may see his future elsewhere if minutes are at a premium.

Villa only have Ollie Watkins as their current recognised senior striker; Jhon Duran left for Al-Nassr - who he's since departed on loan already for Fenerbahce - and the club brought in quality cover in the form of Marcus Rashford, whose time at the club came to an end following the conclusion of his loan spell in the spring.
