Leeds United transfer target 'agrees personal terms' with Serie A champions

Leeds United may have to look elsewhere in their search for a new goalkeeper with Vanja Milinkovic-Savic closing in on a move to Napoli.

Milinkovic-Savic, a Whites transfer target, has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Serie A champions, according to Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb. The report adds that Napoli will try to finalise a deal with Torino for the 28-year-old goalkeeper this week.

It has been suggested that the Italian outfit’s sporting director, Giovanni Manna, hopes to a conclude a deal for the Serbian shot-stopper before the start of their pre-season training. Milinkovic-Savic, contracted to Torino until the summer of 2027, reportedly holds a two-part release clause in his deal, costing €19million (£16.44million) to Italian clubs and €22million (£19million) to clubs outside of the country.

A new goalkeeper is high on Daniel Farke's transfer priority list, with just over a month to go until the start of the Premier League season. Illan Meslier, Karl Darlow and Alex Cairns are currently Farke's options in between the sticks.

Meslier lost the No 1 jersey at the back end of the 2024/25 campaign after a string of high-profile blunders. Darlow was given an opportunity to stake his claim and the Wales international helped the Whites win the title.

But it is highly likely United will revamp their goalkeeping department before the window closes on September 1. The chances are Meslier will be given the green light to move on as soon as the Whites sign a new first-choice shot-stopper.
