Report: West Ham looking to get one over David Moyes as Everton put on backfoot in race to sign …

Everton are expected to be very busy in the remaining weeks of the summer transfer window.

David Moyes will receive a healthy transfer budget from the Friedkin Group now that the new financial year has begun.

Everton are exploring a deal to sign Douglas Luiz from Juventus, who value the Brazilian midfielder at around £34m.

The Toffees are also eyeing Johan Bakayoko, however, he now looks set to join Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen.

Another Everton transfer target could be on their way elsewhere as West Ham United look to get one over David Moyes.

West Ham United could pip David Moyes and Everton to Harvey Elliot

Moyes is showing an interest in Harvey Elliott, with Liverpool considering his sale for around £50m this summer.

Elliott was a standout performer for England’s under-21s at the European Championships, winning the Player of the Tournament.

The 22-year-old netted the opening goal in the 3-2 final win against Germany, such is why his price tag has skyrocketed.

Although, Everton have now been put on the back foot to land his signature, as according to the Guardian, West Ham United are set to rival them.

The Hammers are making ‘preparations’ to sign Elliott, so Moyes and his chiefs will have to move quickly and launch a bid, otherwise they’ll miss out.

There is a drawback with Elliott deal

It’s understood that Liverpool will have a buy-back clause on Elliott if they do decide to move him out the door.

That may be off-putting for Moyes and perhaps a reason why the club haven’t already submitted an offer.

They could be in a similar situation with James McAtee, with Manchester City expected to demand a buy-back, too.

So Everton may decide to go for Omari Hutchinson, who is expected to leave Ipswich Town for around £30m.

Hutchinson was another impressive performer at the under-21 European Championships, which Moyes clearly kept a close eye on.
