Arsenal are reportedly close to reaching an agreement to sign Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera.

The Spain U21 international has agreed personal terms with Mikel Arteta’s side and the north London giants are now on the verge of finalising a transfer fee with Valencia as they look to complete a deal imminently.

That is according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein" href="https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6453599/2025/07/14/arsenal-transfers-mosquera-valencia/" target="_blank">The Athletic’s David Ornstein, who has confirmed that Mosquera’s move to Arsenal is “very advanced.”

The Gunners view the 21-year-old as the ideal candidate to provide cover for William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes, and Mosquera has set his sights on completing a move to the Emirates Stadium, despite the fact he won’t be first-choice.

Mosquera, who made 41 appearances across all competitions last season, only has one year remaining on his current Valencia contract, with Carlos Corberan’s side forced to accept a sale this summer in order to avoid losing him on a free transfer in 2026.

Arsenal’s summer transfer business

Arsenal have already completed the signings of Kepa Arrizabalaga, Christian Norgaard and Martin Zubimendi so far this summer, with the trio arriving in north London for a combined fee of €87.4m.

Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres and Chelsea winger Noni Madueke are also set to join the Gunners as Arsenal prepare to set a new record for the most money spent in a single transfer window in their entire history.

Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze and Real Madrid’s Rodrygo remain key targets too, with Arteta eager to add significant reinforcements to his first-team squad in a bid to end a five-year trophy drought.

Meanwhile, Nuno Tavares, Marquinhos, Jorginho, Kieran Tierney, Thomas Partey and Takehiro Tomiyasu have all left Arsenal so far this summer.
