England star keen to join Arsenal

Arsenal travel to face AC Milan, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur during a pre-season tour of Asia later this month.

The Gunners will first travel to Singapore to face Italian giants Milan and Premier League side Newcastle, before facing fierce North London rivals Spurs in Hong Kong.

Mikel Arteta’s side then host La Liga outfits Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao at the Emirates, before starting the new Premier League season with a visit to Old Trafford to face Manchester United.

Arsenal have already added Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard to Arteta’s squad ahead of the new season, with Jorginho and Thomas Partey among those to have departed the club.

Now, it has emerged that the Gunners have been handed a huge boost in their pursuit of an England international.

According to Football Insider, Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze is keen to join Arsenal in order to play in the Champions League and compete for honours.

Eze, 27, joined the Eagles from Championship side Queens Park Rangers in 2020 and has since played 167 times for the South London side, scoring 40 goals and providing 28 assists.

Arsenal have been interested in Eze for some time now, and the report claims that the player himself is confident about his ability to make an impact at The Emirates.

Eze – who scored the winning goal in last season’s FA Cup final as Palace beat Manchester City – is keen to compete at the highest level and challenge for honours on a regular basis, the report says.

The Englishman’s versatility could appeal to Arteta, with Eze able to play in a number of roles across midfield and the frontline.

The ex-QPR man primarily plays in an advanced midfield role for the Eagles, but it is unclear where he would fit into Arteta’s side.
