‘Agreement in principle’ – Brighton agree wider terms on exit but €45m request is an issue

Last week, Corriere dello Sport reported on the possibility of AS Roma and Everton working together to sign Brighton’s Evan Ferguson this summer.

The newspaper claimed the striker had been offered to a host of clubs – including the Roman giants and the Toffees.

David Moyes’ side had stepped away from signing Ferguson once Roma’s interest emerged, with a belief that Everton can sign the player from Roma in the future.

Corriere dello Sport have some updates about the situation today and state there is an ‘agreement in principle’ between Roma and Brighton on the wider terms of the transfer.

The player is keen on the switch and all parties are working towards an initial loan deal with the option to buy.

Everton are monitoring the situation closely due to their interest in the Irishman and discussions are ongoing between Roma and the Seagulls for a transfer fee for the future.

Brighton want that option to buy at €45m and that is the only aspect left to be ironed out.

Similar has been reported by Il Messaggero. The Rome newspaper, as relayed by RomaNews, believe that the Giallorossi consider the €45m fee to be too high and aren’t willing to go beyond €25m.
