Aston Villa now in exclusive negotiations with one club for player sale

Earlier today, Marca reported Benfica and Porto have shown interest in Aston Villa’s Enzo Barrenechea, but neither have come close to meeting Villans’ €12m price.

They also stated Aston Villa director Monchi is waiting to find out if they will receive a convincing offer for the 24-year-old.

Monday’s edition of A Bola relays Marca’s claim and then provide their own take on the Aston Villa player.

Porto haven’t made further progress, after making contact with his agent. The Eagles, on the other hand, are taking the necessary steps to sign the Argentine this summer.

Despite claims of interest from Porto, Real Betis and Valencia, it’s claimed Aston Villa are exclusively negotiating with Benfica for Barrenechea.

A Bola states the Premier League won’t consider any other offers for him until they conclude their negotiations with Benfica. This should please the latter, who are eager to close this operation as quickly as possible.

However, the report says Bruno Lage’s side have to offer more than what they had initially planned. There’s no mention of the fee they intended to propose, but it’s certainly less than €12m requested by the Villans.

This makes it complicated for Benfica, but A Bola states they want to move forward to secure Barrenechea’s services.
