Report: Everton eye Europa League winner who's just become a free agent, Mourinho called him…

Everton need a new left-back, and are apparently now keeping tabs on a player who has just become a free agent after playing in the Premier League.

David Moyes brought in his first new face last week in the form of Thierno Barry, who’s already said scoring goals is like eating food to him.

Evertonians hope his insatiable appetite for scoring will see him become an instant hit.

Everton have also made Carlos Alcaraz’s loan move to the club permanent, after he impressed in 2024/25.

One key position that Everton need to address this summer is left-back.

At the moment, Vitaliy Mykolenko has no competition after Ashley Young left at the end of his contract.

But the Toffees could now hand the Ukraine international cover and competition, in the form of Sergio Reguilon.

Reguilon has just left Tottenham Hotspur after five years at the north London club.

The length of that stint may well come as a surprise to some, because Reguilon hasn’t been there for the whole five years.

He’s had loan spells at Atletico Madrid, Manchester United and Brentford during his time there.

But – after winning the Europa League with Spurs – he became a free agent, and that has seen a number of clubs show an interest in the Spaniard.

Caught Offside claim a host of clubs are now looking at a potential free swoop.

The player has actually been offered to Italian giants Juventus and AC Milan, but it’s also stated that, from the Premier League, Bournemouth, West Ham United and Everton are all circling.

Reguilon is not the only player who both Everton and West Ham are keen on this summer. It’s also been claimed West Ham also like Everton target Harvey Elliott and also James McAtee.

Reguilon has made 81 appearances in the English top-flight across spells with Spurs and United.

Everton have money to spend this summer, but it will also be important for the club’s recruitment team to secure bargains as well.

By doing this, more money can then be allocated to spend on positions that are really crying out for investment.

A free swoop for Reguilon could be a great move by Everton, who have also been linked with Nicolas Tagliafico.

While he is probably not one of the absolute best players in his position, he obviously has Premier League experience, and is someone that could provide Mykolenko with competition, and also cover for him.

Certainly, he’s had a decent career up to this point, with his former manager Jose Mourinho stating (via Mirror) in 2023 that the Spaniard had a ‘very good background’.

We already know Everton are in the market for free agents, after targeting Kenny Tete.

That move ultimately didn’t materialise, but Reguilon is another player who could be a decent pick-up for Moyes.
