Doubt hangs over Jack Harrison’s involvement in Leeds United’s pre-season tour this summer with the club yet to reach a firm conclusion over his future.
Club sources have described the situation with Harrison as complex, while contacts could not guarantee for certain that the winger will be on the plane to Stockholm this week ahead of Saturday’s friendly against Manchester United.
Harrison is back at Thorp Arch for pre-season training, with three years still left on his United contract. Him missing out on pre-season tour for anything other than injury would all but confirm the attacker is not in Daniel Farke’s plans for the forthcoming season.
Having signed a bumper new deal in April 2023, Harrison boasts one of the heftiest wages at Leeds. Within his new contract is the option to trigger a loan move elsewhere for every season the Whites are not a Premier League club.
He chose to exercise that clause in each of the past two years, spending both seasons at Everton. The Toffees opted against entering immediate discussions over a permanent move at the end of the last season.
Harrison has not played a competitive game for Leeds since May 2023 - the 4-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on the final day of the season in which United were relegated from the Premier League.
The 28-year-old has played 206 first-team games for Leeds, scoring 34 goals and recording 32 assists. One of those goals was the 94th-minute winner against Brentford that helped Leeds stave off top-flight relegation in 2022.

However, his popularity among many fans has plummeted in recent years amid his decision to play away from Leeds while still contracted to the club. Harrison cost Leeds £11million upon his arrival from Manchester City in 2021, which followed an initial successful long-term loan spell.
After the fixture against Manchester United, Leeds travel to Germany for a week-long training camp before flying back to Elland Road to take on Villarreal ahead of the final friendly against AC Milan in Dublin on August 9.
