Alejandro Garnacho wants to leave Man Utd with the winger’s fall from grace a far cry from what he was tipped to achieve.

Manchester United’s pre-season plans haven’t quite gone according to plan with Ruben Amorim not getting the players he wants, or those he doesn’t moved out the door.

What has been said about Man Utd winger Alejandro Garnacho in the past?

Manchester World reported Alejandro Garnacho rejecting a move to Saudi Arabia over the weekend, in the process snubbing Cristiano Ronaldo’s approach for his services. There was a time when United’s No.17 was tipped to emulate one of the best to ever do it.

If anyone knows what a good footballer looks like, it’s Paul Scholes, given the world class list of former teammates that the mercurial midfielder had: “This crowd they love entertainment. I think this lad was really entertaining,” Scholes said about Garnacho. “Almost like a young Cristiano at that age,” he proclaimed via Planet Football.

Current United teammate and compatriot Lisandro Martinez has also waxed lyrical only last season about the flying winger: “I tell him he has to take advantage of the moment, listen, ask for advice, do extra training. He has no ceiling. He will give Manchester United and the national team a lot.”

Who could sign Garnacho after Saudi snub?

It was Mike McGrath in The Telegraph who claimed that Garnacho has turned down a move to Saudi Arabia claiming: “Alejandro Garnacho has rejected opportunity to pursue move to Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia.

“Cristiano Ronaldo's team had initial discussions to be part of SPL title challenge but 21-year-old to prioritise Europe. MUFC have allowed him to look at moves.”

The transfer window has been open a long time and it hasn’t exactly been a secret that Garnacho is available and yet interest in his services has been quiet. Chelsea were credited earlier in the window, however, they have since added Joao Pedro and Jamie Gittens. In short, the Club World Cup winners no longer need him.

Another team mentioned was Spurs, again though, they have also moved to strengthen their forward line with the signing of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham. If Garnacho wants to stay in the Premier League his options are limited. Liverpool don’t need him, neither do Arsenal who are linked with Rodrygo and it would be an outrageous move if Man City made a surprise bid.

Currently on a reported £50,000 per week, clubs like Aston Villa and Newcastle could afford him, if he doesn’t want an exorbitant pay rise, they could also afford the knock-down £40m fee that United are said to want the Argentina international.

However, despite being a likened to a Cristiano Ronaldo regen and having “no ceiling” there is a severe shortage of offers. If Garnacho wants the sort of move being claimed, he will only get it with the right attitude and with good performances on the pitch. Neither of which look like happening any time soon.
