Arsenal have made significant progress on an initial £13m deal for Cristhian Mosquera of Valencia, with a verbal agreement in place for the defender’s transfer.

On Sunday night, Fabrizio Romano reported that Arsenal were planning to advance on a deal to sign Cristhian Mosquera this week, with a new round of talks planned to get the deal done.
Following Arsenal’s initial bids, Valencia had pushed to get Mosquera to extend his contract to stay. But Romano reported there’s now “no chance” of that, with the player only interested in the Gunners.
David Ornstein confirms this morning for The Athletic that Arsenal are working to complete a deal to sign Mosquera, with the move now very advanced and personal terms already done. Ornstein adds the two clubs are close to reaching an agreement.

Romano now reports that a verbal agreement is in place on a €15m (£13m) fee plus add-ons, with the total package coming to less than €20m (£17.3m). The medical will take place this week if all goes to plan.
Valencia journalist Hector Gomez had previously emphasised just how far apart the two clubs were in their valuations, but even he now reports that the Gunners have significantly improved their offer and the negotiation is advanced and progressing quickly.
Sam Dean reports for The Telegraph that Arsenal are expecting Mosquera to join their pre-season tour later this week.

21-year-old Mosquera made 41 appearances for Valencia in 2024/25, and he’s even made his debut for the Spanish national team. Though he dropped back to the u21s this summer to play at the Euros.
Given he’s born in 2004, Mosquera will count as an u21 player in the Premier League squad lists this season, meaning he won’t use up a non-homegrown spot domestically.
That’s not the case in UEFA competition, where you have to be at a club for two seasons before you’re allowed on the u21 list. Mosquera will have to be included as a non-homegrown senior player in the Champions League.
The centre-back was in the final year of his deal with Valencia, which helped Arsenal to get a cut-price agreement.
