Liverpool have transfer meeting with Crystal Palace player and his agent – Eagles could be tempted to sell

Liverpool have Crystal Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta on their target list for this summer.

Darwin Núñez’s future at Anfield remains uncertain and the Reds have been searching the market for his possible replacement.

Foot Mercato now report Liverpool have added the Crystal Palace player’s name to their shortlist.

It’s claimed Reds officials made a trip to Paris to hold talks with both the 28-year-old and his agent.

The outlet doesn’t give an insight into the discussions between the parties or whether Liverpool plan to make further advances to try and sign him.

According to Foot Mercato, Liverpool’s interest in the frontman should please the Eagles, who ‘could be tempted to sell’ him this summer. The Frenchman has two years left on his contract.

Newcastle United star Alexander Isak, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike and Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman have all been linked to the Premier League winners.

Foot Mercato says Mateta would be cheaper for Arne Slot’s side and points out the English press have set a price between €50-60m.

If Liverpool are keen on signing the Eagles attacker, they’ll have to act quickly because Manchester United are also said to be interested.
