Celtics plan on Anfernee Simons revealed

The Boston Celtics are "actively looking" to trade Anfernee Simons, and both the team and Simons' camp know Boston isn't committed to keeping him long-term.

The Boston Celtics have traded Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for guard Anfernee Simons. However, Simons' future in Boston remains uncertain.

The 26-year-old is entering the final year of his contract, worth $27.7 million, giving the Celtics flexibility to either clear cap space or explore potential trades.

"So, at a certain point in time, could Boston just move him? Yes. Are they actively looking to move him? I would say they're actively open to moving him," NBA insider Jake Fischer said during a live Bleacher Report YouTube stream.

"But I don't think Boston is calling around trying to move Anfernee Simons right now," he added. "I just think he and his representation are very aware that the Celtics are not married to having him start the season in green and white, but they'd be very happy and willing to do so if that's the case."

Fischer has also previously said he expects the Celtics to explore trade options for both Simons and forward Georges Niang in the near future.

Last season, Simons played in 70 games for Portland, averaging 19.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game. He shot 42.6% from the field and 36.3% from beyond the arc.

He has played seven seasons with the Trail Blazers.
