Arne Slot ended a glorious 2024/25 season by lifting the Premier League Cup in his first season with the team. His genius has already traversed the globe, with Liverpool playing a beautiful game under his management. During the summer transfer window, fans are getting to see huge changes being enacted in the team as new signings and transfers are currently happening aggressively.
Over the last seasons under Jurgen Klopp, the Reds have been performing magnificently to the joy of their fans. In the last 10 years with Klopp, the Reds have won 8 trophies, including the EPL title and the Champions League. Fans are now expecting a lot from Slot, considering that he started stronger than other managers usually do.
As Liverpool looks to maintain its winning culture both at home and abroad, excitement is building among fans even during the offseason. For instance, there is a growing range of fan-focused promotions tied to the sport, with the online gaming scene tapping into the football buzz. Different platforms are offering themed incentives like no deposit bonus NZ , allowing fans to enjoy the thrill of gaming without upfront costs while cheering on their team.
Saying goodbye to Trent
Trent Alexander-Arnold will definitely be missed at Anfield. His contract just ended on the last day of June and well, he will be having his fun at Real Madrid. The 26-year old has been with the Reds for close to his whole life, achieving all his dreams and everything he ever wanted. But to him, Real Madrid will be a whole new experience that he would want to have. Also, he’ll be able to learn a new language.
Trent was having a good relationship with Arne Slot, but Slot will have to figure out a slightly different plan. With Jurgen Klopp, the Liverpool attacking set-up centered around Trent but Slot switched the pace a bit to emphasize on Mohamed Salah. Still, Trent set up eight goals in all the competition and was not slack to play his part.
It is possible that Trent’s role was switched in anticipation of him leaving, but his creativity still played a big part in the team. Therefore, Liverpool will have to find some other ways of playing the role. That is why it is anticipated that the new signing, Jeremie Frimpong, will help Conor Bradley fill up that gap. However, these are still not enough. And that’s where Florian Wirtz comes in.
According to Liverpool.com, the Reds have a genuinely world-class number 10 in its ranks. Florian Wirtz is exceptionally good when put in front of a solid back-line, even though he can also defend from the front. Arne Slot can take advantage of him and shift the emphasis once more.
New signings for Slot’s squad
Liverpool have already spent a lot this summer with six signings so far. The above-mentioned Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong arrived from Bayer Leverkusen.
Wirtz completed his switch in a record transfer at £116 for a contract that could tie him down up until 2030. For Wirtz, he felt very proud and happy as he had waited for a long time for this opportunity.
Frimpong is already acquainted with some of his new teammates, Cody Gakpo, Ryan Gravenberch and Virgil van Dijk, considering he regularly plays for the Netherlands national team. Other signings include Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth, Giorgi Mamardashvilli from Valencia, 20-year-old Hungarian Armin Pecsi and former Newcastle player Freddie Woodman.
Before the summer transfer window ends, Liverpool is set to acquire the Crystal Palace captain, Marc Guehi. The Reds have reportedly entered advanced talks and could complete another blockbuster transfer. The defender was also being eyed by Arsenal during the summer, but it seems like he is leaning more towards the Reds.
Also, Liverpool wonderkid Trey Nyoni signed a new long-term deal after breaking out from the youth ranks. Although he already appeared five times in the previous season under Arne Slot, it was confirmed that he had signed an extended contract at Anfield after crossing the 18-year age mark.
Who else is leaving?
Liverpool received around £10m from Real Madrid as they completed the Alexander-Arnold transfer. After Trent left, goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher followed suit, completing an £18m deal with Brentford. Also, defender Nat Phillips has already completed his tenure at Liverpool and transferred to West Bromwich Albion for £3m.
The motivation to gain Guehi comes from the Reds’ fear of losing Ibrahima Konate at the end of his contract. So far, the club already released Jarell Quansah for Bayer Leverkusen in a £35m deal. Quansah was among England’s U-21 squad that beat Germany in the Euros.
While Nyoni is here to stay, seven of his teammates in the academy left after their deals. These include Jakub Orjzynski, Reece Trueman, Harry Evers, Dominic Corness, Lee Jonas, Jacob Poytress and Louis Enahoro-Marcus.
It also seems like Luis Diaz could potentially leave the club with Barcelona being linked with the Colombian forward. However, Bayern Munich has already made an initial offer for Diaz with Liverpool rejecting it. The 28-year old still has two years left on his deal and the club might hold him down until then.
It is true that Arne Slot is a genius but he has some bit of work trying to line up his team for the upcoming season.
