Report: £8.6m Wolves transfer target has now decided the club he wants to join this summer

Wolves are still somewhat in limbo regarding Nelson Semedo.

The defender is now a free agent after running down his contract at Molineux.

Currently, Semedo is training alone, in a location away from Wolves’ squad, although it’s believed he is in Portugal.

Wolves’ four-year offer is thought to remain on the table for the player.

But Wolves apparently feel as though Semedo is more likely to leave the club at this point and join a club overseas.

While his future has been up in the air, Wolves have been linked with a number of potential replacements for the 31-year-old.

Jackson Tchatchoua has been linked with Wolves in recent days – and now there is word on the club he would like to join.

The Nelson Semedo situation is far from ideal for Wolves.

MORE WOLVES STORIES

Pre-season has now commenced, and this is a vital period for the players to get an early understanding of tactics, boost fitness levels and – particularly for new faces – settle in.

Wolves still have plenty of time to do business before the new season starts.

But Pereira will want new players in as soon as possible.

So a decision from Semedo is needed, but one man who looks like he wouldn’t be coming in as his replacement if he did leave, is Jackson Tchatchoua.

According to skysport.ch, Tchatchoua has given preference to joining Inter Milan this summer, with the Italians potentially set to lose Denzel Dumfries.

Tchatchoua, who is described as one of the most talented right-backs in Serie A, would cost around £8.6 million.

Wolves need right-back resolution ASAP

So Tchatchoua seemingly wants to join Inter rather than Wolves, which if true, means Wanderers ought to end their interest.

Pereira has previously talked up new players wanting to play for Wolves and embrace being in Wolverhampton.

If Tchatchoua wants Inter then it makes little sense to continue the pursuit. Perhaps Wolves should now focus on Marc Pubill, the Almeria defender who’s been linked with recent days.

But at the moment, Wolves can’t really do anything until they hear from Semedo. The club want him to stay put, but he is clearly not in a hurry to communicate a decision.

Realistically though, Semedo probably isn’t staying given he’s happy to post about training alone, and the fact he’s already filmed a goodbye video.
