Preview: Summer Hornets play the Mavericks without Cooper Flagg

**What:** Charlotte Hornets (2-0) vs Dallas Mavericks (1-1)

**Where:** Thomas & Mack Center; Las Vegas, NV

**When:** 6:30pm Eastern

**How to watch:** NBATV

The NBA tried to schedule must watch TV by matching up all the teams with top five picks. The Hornets have had games with Ace Bailey and the Jazz and VJ Edgecombe and the 76ers. Except neither of those two highly touted rookies played due to injury. The same thing is set to happen tonight after it was reported that the Mavericks are shutting down Cooper Flagg for the rest of the summer league.

So Kon Knueppel won’t get to square off against his former college teammate as he tries to bounce back from a nightmarish summer league debut. He looked uncomfortable in that game, overly guiding shots and looking hesitant to pick his spots. He’s got that out of his system, so hopefully he looks more comfortable tonight.

The Hornets will try to move to 3-0 after a pair of strong showings in the first two games. Returning players KJ Simpson and Tidjane Salaun have looked like how returning players should look. Liam McNeeley has been better than expected. Ryan Kalkbrenner got a game sealing block on a jumper to win over Philadelphia. It’s been a good time so far. They’ll try to continue that tonight.
