still have some jobs to do as they prepare for the start of the new Premier League campaign.

Arsenal at awaits for United on the opening day of the campaign on August 17. Between now and then, and Co. will be hard at work both on the training ground and behind the scenes to get the squad ready to have a successful season.

, there continues to be speculation about the business that United may get over the line over the next couple of months. United have until September 1 to complete any new signings or sales.

Here, the Manchester Evening News takes a look at what United must do over the next few weeks to prepare for the new season.

Complete Mbeumo transfer

Bryan Mbeumo's name has been mentioned on the United transfer rumour mill for a couple of months now. And the speculation does not seem to be going away as long as a deal remains incomplete.

United have had two bids rejected by Brentford for Mbeumo, but remain confident in getting a deal over the line.

While there is still a deal to be completed, United would be wise to get Mbeumo signed up as a new member of Amorim's squad as soon as possible. As a result, signing Mbeumo is at the top of United's to-do list.

Sign a striker

Away from the speculation around Mbeumo's future, United have also been heavily linked with signing a striker this summer.

United scored just 44 goals in the Premier League last season and will want that to dramatically improve next term.

A host of strikers have been linked with moving to Old Trafford this summer, with Liam Delap a target before he went on to join Chelsea.

Signing a striker would lead to increased speculation around Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund's futures, though, with both players being linked with moves away from Old Trafford already this summer.

Sell four players (at least)

United will know that they will need to sell some existing members of their squad before going into the market for the signings they want.

Antony, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho could all leave United on permanent deals this summer. In Rashford's case, though, a loan deal to Barcelona is the most likely outcome at this moment in time.

Selling the four aforementioned players will give United some much-needed extra funds to strengthen their squad in the transfer market.
