Manchester United have been handed a transfer boost after Brentford identified a possible replacement for Bryan Mbeumo.

United want to sign the Cameroon international this summer and the 25-year-old is keen to move to Old Trafford too but have so far seen two bids rejected by Brentford.

There is still confidence a deal gets done, though, and United are hopeful he will be in place before they jet off on their pre-season tour of the United States of America.

Mbeumo scored 20 goals in the Premier League last season, a feat that hasn't been achieved by any United player since Robin van Persie in the 2012/13 campaign, and they are keen to partner him alongside £62.5million signing Matheus Cunha in the two attacking midfield roles in Ruben Amorim's 3-4-2-1 formation.

Cunha scored 17 goals for Wolves last season and the acquisition of the pair would hopefully help solve United's goalscoring woes from last season.

And while United wait to make a breakthrough in negotiations for Mbeumo, they will be buoyed by reports that Brentford have identified his possible replacement in the transfer market.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Brentford are showing initial interest in Ipswich Town star Omari Hutchinson. No talks have taken place between the two clubs but the Bees are big fans of the 21-year-old.

The former Arsenal and Chelsea youngster scored three goals and bagged two assists in the Premier League last term, despite the Tractor Boys' relegation, and scored 11 goals and registered six assists the season before.

He also helped England under-21s win the European Championships this summer, scoring in the final as the Young Lions beat Germany to seal the title.

United will hope Brentford's interest in Hutchinson may well accelerate their hopes of landing Mbeumo this summer.
