Wolves explore further tributes to Diogo Jota after his tragic death

Jota and his brother were killed in a car crash in Spain on July 3 and supporters have since flocked to Molineux to pay their respects and leave tributes outside the stadium.

The club have announced that they will begin carefully "removing and preserving" items from the tribute area to protect them from damage with heavy rain and thunderstorms forecast over the coming days.

In a statement, Wolves also added that they will be "retained for potential inclusion" in a more permanent memorial for Diogo and his brother.

In addition, Wolves also have announced plans to pay tribute to Diogo and Andre at two of their upcoming home games.

Wolves will mark their passing at the final home friendly against Celta Vigo on August 9 and their opening Premier League match against Manchester City on August 16.

Further details on the tributes will be shared with supporters ahead of the games.

"Over the past week, the area outside Molineux has become a moving and powerful tribute to Diogo Jota and his younger brother Andre, following their tragic passing," a club statement read.

"The club is truly grateful to everyone who has visited to pay their respects, and to those who have left messages, shirts, scarves and flowers in Diogo's memory.

"The outpouring of love has been a source of comfort to all those who knew him. With heavy rain and thunderstorms forecast in the coming days, we have begun carefully removing and preserving items from the tribute area to protect them from damage.

"Supporters are encouraged to visit today (on Monday, July 14) if they wish to view the tributes before the anticipated weather condition changes.

"All non-perishable items will be carefully stored, and will be retained for potential inclusion in a more permanent memorial, which the club is now exploring as a lasting way to honour Diogo and Andre.

"Diogo and Andre's passing will also be marked at two of Wolves' upcoming home fixtures - the final home friendly against Celta Vigo and the opening Premier League match against Manchester City.

"The club is working closely with the supporters to ensure both tributes are fitting of Diogo's legacy at Wolves, with the main commemorations planned for the Manchester City fixture.

"Full details will be shared with supporters ahead of the games. Thank you once again for your compassion, care and respect during this difficult time."
