Leeds United could potentially seal a transfer for former Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain soon.

The 31-year-old joined Besiktas from Liverpool in 2023 after spending the majority of his career in the Premier League.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has emerged as a target at Elland Road, with the Super Lig outfit wanting to get rid of the Englishman.

Newcastle United ace Sean Longstaff is being eyed by the Whites to bolster their engine room, but a deal is on standstill for now due to disagreements over his valuation, and now the West Yorkshire outfit may switch their focus to another option.

The news outlet reports (14 July) that the Turkish outfit are set to pay the midfielder with 35 caps for England around £1.2million for his immediate exit, with his current deal expiring next year.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer relied on the 31-year-old after being appointed the Super Lig club’s manager, but it looks like he will leave, potentially allowing Leeds to swoop in.

The Whites could now have a chance to seal a bargain deal for Oxlade-Chamberlain at Elland Road after their return to the Premier League.

While the English midfielder arguably won’t be expected to be a starter under Farke next season, he could still contribute to the West Yorkshire outfit and add depth and experience to their squad.

Supporters undoubtedly want to see the Peacocks make quality signings before the start of the campaign, but they should discount the importance of having plenty of options to deal with the rigours of the English top flight.

Oxlade-Chamberlain to provide support at Leeds after transfer

Hoffenheim defensive midfielder Anton Stach is someone Leeds should ideally prioritise signing before anyone else, but it remains to be seen whether they will match his £17.25m valuation.

49ers Enterprises have been slow in doing their business in the transfer windows, and only time will tell how long it will take them to make more additions to Farke’s team.

In the meantime, Oxlade-Chamberlain is a realistically affordable target who can come in immediately and provide support in LS11.

The German manager would evidently want new players in for pre-season to evaluate them before the first Premier League game against Everton on 18 August.
