Kendrick Perkins Believes Nets Prospect Deserves ‘Quality Minutes’

The Brooklyn Nets need all the help they can get in the season ahead, and they are looking to get a lot of output from unproven and up-and-coming players.

Drew Timme is one of them, and he just had a huge game in the NBA Summer League.

Timme posted 30 points, five rebounds, and three assists while shooting 54.2 percent from the field on Sunday against the Washington Wizards, and a lot of people took notice.

Kendrick Perkins is one of them, and he hopped on social media to praise Timme and predict big things for him.

“Drew Timme should be on some body roster getting quality minutes!!!! And I mean in the rotation heavy,” Perkins wrote on X.

After years of playing for Gonzaga, Timme entered the league last season, averaging 12.1 points and 7.2 rebounds for the Nets.

He only appeared in nine games, but he could do a lot more in 2025-26 if he keeps playing like he has in the Summer League.

This wasn’t the first great game from Timme this summer, as he also produced 22 points and nine rebounds during a game against the reigning champion Oklahoma City Thunder just a few nights before.

He is obviously on a roll, but that doesn’t guarantee him a lot of time on the court in 2025-26.

Good Summer League performances do not promise much playing time in the regular season, but Timme is in a good position because he is playing for the Nets.

They are a team eager to find new stars and create a new chapter for their franchise.

With few big names on the roster, Timme may have just opened up a path for himself.
