Arsenal are stepping up their summer business with major movement on two key transfer targets, as the club looks to wrap up deals for Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyökeres and Chelsea winger Noni Madueke. Talks between Arsenal, Sporting CP, and representatives of Viktor Gyökeres are currently underway in London, with the aim of getting the final green light for the transfer. Gyökeres has emerged as Arsenal’s top target for the number nine position. The 27-year-old enjoyed a sensational season in Portugal, scoring goals at a prolific rate and turning heads across Europe with his physicality, movement, and finishing ability. While discussions on Gyökeres continue, Arsenal have already completed another crucial step in their summer rebuild — the finalisation of the Noni Madueke deal. All documents between Arsenal and Chelsea have now been counter-signed, effectively sealing the transfer of the England international winger.
Madueke, 22, has agreed a five-year contract with Arsenal, and the medical is understood to be completed. The former PSV Eindhoven man was the subject of interest from multiple clubs, but it’s Arsenal who have won the race, capitalising on the player’s openness to the move and their strong relationship with Chelsea to strike a deal worth around £52 million including add-ons.
Arteta sees Madueke as a key addition who can bring pace, creativity, and flair to both flanks. With Bukayo Saka playing a heavy load in recent seasons, Madueke will provide vital depth and competition — as well as the potential to start regularly depending on form.
With both deals nearing completion, Arsenal’s summer transfer window is already shaping up to be one of serious intent.
