Liverpool enjoyed a phenomenal 2024/25 season, capturing the Premier League title in Arne Slot’s first season in charge at Anfield.

And their summer transfer window only added to the buzz, with exciting signings like Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez showing the club’s ambition to dominate domestically and in Europe. Yet, despite these additions, one glaring weakness remains: a proven, clinical out-and-out striker.

Darwin Núñez has struggled for consistency and is widely expected to move on, while the tragic and sudden passing of Diogo Jota has left Liverpool painfully short in attack.

The need for a reliable goal-scorer who can lead the line and shoulder the burden has never been clearer.

Now, Liverpool have been approached about one of Europe’s hottest young forwards — Benjamin Sesko — a player whose blend of power, pace, and finishing ability could be the perfect fit for Slots’ ambitions.

According to a fresh report from TBR Football, Benjamin Sesko’s agents have reached out to Liverpool following Arsenal’s decision to turn their attention to Viktor Gyökeres instead.

All summer, it seemed Arsenal would snap up Sesko as Mikel Arteta’s new number nine. But with Gyökeres now on the verge of signing, the door swings wide open for Liverpool—and several other clubs—to make a move for the promising striker.

Sesko is reportedly weighing his options and could be open to a Premier League switch, though staying at RB Leipzig remains on the table.

At just 22 years old, Sesko is already one of Europe’s most highly regarded young forwards. He netted 21 goals across all competitions last season and has drawn comparisons to Manchester City’s Erling Haaland thanks to his imposing physique, electrifying pace, and thunderous right foot.

Given his talent, Leipzig won’t let him go cheap, reportedly demanding a hefty £78 million price tag.

Liverpool can certainly afford that kind of investment. The question is whether they want to risk it—especially given their recent history of splashing big money on forwards who haven’t quite delivered, with Darwin Núñez the prime example.

One thing’s for sure: the Reds will be keen to avoid repeating past mistakes.
