NFL Turns Heads With Dak Prescott Announcement on Monday

The Dallas Cowboys made headlines prior to last season when they signed both star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and quarterback Dak Prescott to long-term extensions—Prescott's deal totaling four years and $240 million.

However, the season didn’t go as planned. The Cowboys missed the playoffs, head coach Mike McCarthy was let go, and Prescott suffered a season-ending hamstring injury in early November.

Now, with the 2025 season approaching, pressure is mounting on Prescott to return to the form that earned him such a major contract. On Monday, the NFL added fuel to that narrative, announcing that Prescott is ranked No. 79 on this year’s NFL Top 100 list—a steep drop from his No. 16 ranking last season.

Fans reacted to Prescott's ranking after playing just eight games in 2024.

"Steady, underrated, and still one of the most resilient QBs in the game. Say what you want, but the guy shows up," a fan said.

Someone else added, "Dak really made the list and still got haters acting like it’s a glitch. Put some respect on the man’s consistency."

Another person wrote, "injured dak in the worst year of his career is 79. He’s coming for top 25 next year."

"Valid. Maybe a little too high," one more fan commented.

Dak Prescott earned Pro Bowl honors in his rookie season back in 2016 after being selected in the fourth round out of Mississippi State. Since then, he has served as the Cowboys’ starting quarterback, appearing in 122 games over the course of nine seasons.

Before suffering the injury last year, Prescott had led Dallas to a 3-5 record. He completed 64.7% of his passes for 1,978 yards, 11 touchdowns, and eight interceptions.

Over his career, Prescott has thrown for more than 31,000 yards with 213 touchdowns, 82 interceptions, and holds a 76-46 record as a starter.
