The Boston Celtics are going to miss Jayson Tatum because he will almost certainly be gone for all of 2025-26.
His Achilles injury was heartbreaking and robbed the Celtics of their biggest star.
But the team is still hopeful for his return, even though it won’t come soon enough.
Brad Stevens recently talked about Tatum and said that he’s doing “really well” because he’s a natural competitor.
“He seems to be doing really well…He’s a competitor. He’s gonna compete in everything he does,” Stevens said, per Daniel Donabedian.
Brad Stevens provided another update on Jayson Tatum and said he’s even viewing his recovery as a competition of sorts:

The Celtics will be without Tatum and his average of 26.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 6.0 assists for the foreseeable future.
Few players are as consequential for their teams as Tatum, who is Boston’s most important player and frequently hailed as one of the best stars in the league.
Since losing him, the Celtics have been hard at work attempting to put together a roster that can survive without Tatum
That has required tough choices, such as losing Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday, but the Celtics think all of this will be for the greater good.
They are attempting to get through next season and remain as competitive as possible without Tatum.
An Achilles injury usually requires a lot of time off for recovery and rehabilitation, so Celtics fans aren’t expecting to see Tatum back soon.
But Stevens is making it clear that he will fight hard to come back, and the team will be ready to welcome him with open arms when he is ready.
