Report: West Ham now eyeing 'ambitious' move for 'special' star to replace Kudus, £40m gets…

West Ham United want to sign Liverpool star Harvey Elliott to replace Mohammed Kudus, according to The Guardian.

The Hammers have had a quiet summer transfer window so far as Graham Potter looks to strengthen his squad ahead of his first full season in charge, with no incoming signings official at the time of writing.

But after completing the sale of Ghana star Kudus to rivals Tottenham for around £55m, the Irons are now ready to splash the cash and have identified the England Under-21 star as their top target for the position.

Elliott, who has been described as 'special', shone for the England Under-21 team during the summer as they defended their crown as European champions, with the Liverpool attacker scoring in the final and being crowned player of the tournament.

Now the 22-year-old is eyeing more regular football at club level, and a move away from Anfield is expected this summer, with Potter identifying the left-footer as the ideal man to come into his squad.

While no official offer has been tabled, the club are confident that they could be able to strike a deal with Liverpool as they can offer what the player wants and they have money available to sign a top forward.

It's believed that Liverpool are eyeing a £50m deal to allow Elliott to leave this summer, while they could accept a £40m fee if the buying club agrees to a buy-back clause so they can keep control of his future.

West Ham’s manager wants young, hungry, dynamic players and is also focusing on lifting the atmosphere in the dressing room, something he believes that Elliott could well provide.

The Hammers are also close to adding left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf to their squad after agreeing a fee with Slavia Prague, with the player jetting in for a medical on Monday.
