Everton target absent from club’s pre-season tour as ‘doubt hangs’ over his future - journalist

It’s difficult to assess where Jack Harrison will be next season, as an Everton return has certainly not been ruled out.

David Moyes clearly saw something in the winger during his six-month spell, which has inspired him to bring Harrison back to Merseyside.

With his situation at Leeds complicated, Everton could welcome a permanent Harrison deal.

The right flank is an area where the Toffees desperately need recruitment, and the 28-year-old’s saga could go right till the end of the window.

Harrison could join on a free transfer, but it’s unlikely that will be done with it affecting Leeds’ PSR; however, it’s not looking like Leeds will be his destination come the end of the summer.

Everton’s move for Jack Harrison takes sudden twist

It appears as though Moyes and the fanbase have two contrasting opinions about the winger.

The Scotsman seems happy to bring him back, whereas Everton fans are baffled that Harrison could return.

You have to sympathise with the supporters who may want something different, but more the fact that Harrison only had one goal contribution across the entirety of last season.

Nevertheless, this won’t stop The Friedkin Group’s pursuit, and now what Leeds Live reporter Isaac Johnson is reporting gives a clear insight into what’s happening with Harrison this summer.

It’s said that ‘doubt hangs’ over Harrison’s involvement in Leeds’ pre-season tour this summer as sources have described the situation with Harrison as ‘complex’, with the Whites yet to reach a firm conclusion on his next steps.

With the Whites kicking off their summer friendlies in Stockholm against Manchester United, contacts at the club could not guarantee for certain that the winger will be on the plane for Saturday’s game.

Everton should hold out on free transfer option for Harrison

It’s safe to say his first season at the club showed promise, but his second spell was a disaster.

His only goal involvement last campaign saw hope in him progressing under Moyes, but nothing followed his strike against Wolves.

Moyes said Harrison was gaining confidence, but this wasn’t backed up in the slightest during the remaining months of the season.

It’s clear both clubs want to strike a deal, but finding the parameters of this is proving to be difficult.

From Everton’s side of things, they should hold out on the free transfer option, as although Leeds’ PSR will be affected, they can’t afford to have him as a squad player on the wages he’s on, and The Friedkins shouldn’t budge on this with the chance of another loan.

To pay a high fee for the winger would be a mistake, especially after Gary Neville labelled Harrison as ‘poor’ in the big games, so for Everton, it should be a freebie or nothing.
