Manchester United have now been told how much it will cost them to reunite one Sporting CP star with Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford, according to reports in Portugal.
Ruben Amorim made his name as one of Europe’s top managerial prospects during his time in his native homeland and his successful spell with Sporting CP.
The 40-year-old Manchester United manager was the head coach of Casa Pia and Braga early in his managerial career before his arrival at Sporting in 2020.
Amorim’s prolific managerial reign at the Portuguese outfit saw Sporting lift two Primeira Liga titles and two Portuguese League Cups before his exit from the club.
The former Sporting boss left the Estadio Jose Alvalade during the 2024-25 campaign and Amorim succeeded Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford in 2024.
Erik ten Hag’s reign as United manager had come to an end last October after the former Ajax boss was sacked following a disastrous start to the 2024-25 season.

Man Utd linked with Sporting CP star Goncalo Inacio amid Borussia Dortmund’s interest in Ruben Amorim’s former player
Goncalo Inacio has been linked with Manchester United after Ruben Amorim’s arrival at Old Trafford and the centre-back is ‘gaining traction’ ahead of next season.
The 23-year-old Portuguese defender played a key role under United manager at the Estadio Jose Alvalade for Amorim’s first Primeira Liga title with Sporting CP.
Goncalo Inacio is under contract with Sporting CP until 2027 and the Portugal ace played in 42 matches last season and netted six times and registered three assists.
According to A Bola, the market has become ‘very interested’ in Inacio and United had ‘already been linked’ to the player after appointing Amorim last November.
However, the Portuguese newspaper added that Borussia Dortmund ‘inquired’ with Sporting about the United-linked Inacio during the January transfer window.
It is believed that Sporting will try to initiate a ‘contract renewal’ with Inacio if the Portugal defender remains at the Primeira Liga champions this summer.

Sporting CP have a fixed price tag in mind for Man Utd-linked Goncalo Inacio after Borussia Dortmund’s transfer offer
A Bola has claimed that Borussia Dortmund tabled an offer for Goncalo Inacio last January, but the German club’s offer did not meet the ‘desired price’ for the player.
The publication reports that Sporting ‘wouldn’t negotiate’ a price of ‘less than €40m’ for the Portugal centre-back, with Dortmund offering ‘no more than €35m.’
Dortmund’s ‘budget’ capped the deal from being done and Inacio remained at the Estadio Jose Alvalade after the transfer window closed in January.
It has now been revealed that Sporting’s price tag is set at ‘approximately €50m’ in the summer transfer window amid the interest from United and Dortmund.
