**Real Madrid are reportedly delighted with rumoured Liverpool plans to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace as the Spanish side seeks to steal a second superstar from the Reds.**
While he was distracted and out of form for most of Liverpool’s Premier League triumph last season, Trent Alexander-Arnold still managed to score three goals and assist seven.
It’s a testament to the standard of player Liverpool have lost with only £8m to speak for the transfer.
The same fate awaits the club with Ibrahima Konate and it’s unfortunately another failure to act authoritavely in the contract department shortly.
Fortunately, however, Liverpool have signed Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk to two-year deals and that was alway the main objective.
However, now it seems as though Real Madrid are delighted at the thought of Liverpool sign Marc Guehi this summer although that’s a move that is yet to come to fruition.
Real Madrid “rubbing their hands together” as Liverpool target Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi

According to Spanish news outlet [Defensa Central](https://www.defensacentral.com/en/soccer/liverpool-is-already-preparing-the-sale-of-konate-to-real-madrid-marc-guehi-has-the-key_310644_102.html#google_vignette), Liverpool’s transfer pursuit of Guehi is being closely watched by the decision makers at Real Madrid with apparent excitement.
After Antonio Rudiger and Raul Ascencio performed awfully at the Club World Cup, Madrid are reportedly keen to accelerate a move to sign Konate to safeguard their defence. It doesn’t help that Alexander-Arnold isn’t an elite defender by any measure.
Liverpool find themselves in an awful situation. The signing of Guehi isn’t meant to be to replace Konate – but Jarrel Quansah.
So, Liverpool cannot really sell Konate unless they have plans to sign another centre-back in addition to Guehi.
But if Liverpool retain Konate’s services for the season ahead and find no breakthrough on a new deal before the end of the campaign, they will lose him for free just as they did Alexander-Arnold.
Of course, selling Konate would mean they would have funds to reinvest but again, how much meaningful revenue will that generate to replace a player as good as Konate.
It’s a nightmare that I would love to see an acceptable solution to but one way or another, Liverpool seem set to suffer some type of loss in the Konate saga.
